AB College: Pros and Cons.

AB College, one of the oldest (ESTD. 1974) education institute in Pathankot and probably the best with highest number of students studying there (2900+ admissions every year*), but even after more than 40 years it still has many problems and these problems make it a not so good college for studying. Lets go through these problems one by one.....

#1.  Infrastructure. Well in today’s modern world people really care about infrastructure i.e. Building, proper class rooms, furniture, play grounds, parks or garden and so on. All these things are not well in AB, like there building is very old just like the college but the problem with that is its not well maintained or repaired, you can easily found leakage in rooms. Another thing is the washroom and that have the worst condition with most of the things broken. Furniture is uncomfortable and old. Play ground, just take a look of basketball court and you will get the answer. There’s no difference between a Ramlila ground and the college’s ground both are same. Other small things are announcement Speakers which are used for passing warnings, they sound like a radio with weak signal. A college without Auditorium, lecture hall, pool, GYM can’t be the best and the most sad part is that if AB is the best in Pathankot what about the rest?, there’s a strong need to rebuild whole campus or at least some touch up and a more urgent need to replace those announcement speakers which make principle sounds like, a Jagrate wala. College Canteen is very dirty and if you take a look at their kitchen were they cook you will start pretending a fast. Canteen should have more comfortable furniture for sitting. Canteen’s food list is very short, they don’t even Serb coffee. They really need to work on hygiene.

#2. Co-Ed. It’s a cheap joke in case of AB college if you ask any of it students. When I ask one of my friend who studies there “which thing you hate most about your college”, his reply was “separate gardens” and he was a nerdy type. There’s no need to explain what co-ed. Means i.e. Girls and boys can study together ( actually less study more other things), but it looks like the organizers of AB college doesn’t know the meaning or may be they are doing chit for chat, In their time conditions were different and thinking of people also, but now it’s senseless to continue this sickness. According to the students you can’t even walk in colleges compound hand in hand with your own girlfriend and hugging or kissing is beyond imagination. Yeah I know there’s no need to give that much freedom, (in that case it would be like asking for a Unisex washroom) but at least walking, talking, hugging must be allowed, Its 21^st century guys girls and boys can be only good friends also. There’s really no need of separate parking, Canteen and gardens for girls and boys there are almost adult right. Seriously these type of practices are responsible for ever increasing gender inequality in India. SO, in case of AB college it’s “conserved education”.

#3. Less Extracurricular activities. In today’s competitive world extra curricular activities are very important because they not only give you a new experience, enjoyment but also teach you many things. A student can’t gain enough confidence to perform in front of hundred people by just sitting in a class, for that he/she need to take part in competitions. Various extra activities help in improving various talents and by taking part in these activities many students come to know about their hidden talent and through them they can improve also. In AB college only few functions happen like annual function(regular), Sports Day, Army Day. This Year a Science competition was organized on Science day and that too with hard efforts of Science department. Every year selected or willing student go to take part in youth festival happens in University. Now you were thinking is this not enough well in reality its not. All students have different talent some may be good in writing, giving speeches, singing, playing instrument, acting, drawing and so on. All these competitions happens in AB provide ample opportunity to dancers or to those who do little bit comedy on stage but not to others. AB college is better in sports related competitions and that a good thing. The solution for this problem is a competition based on the theme of India got talent( AB got talent) in which any student can show any talent, no matter who wins at the end but at least all of them will get a stage to show their skills. 

#4. Others. 

A. Faculty. Well their are few teachers or staff members(not teachers) which are too old to continue their job and some are insane. For example, those helpers or assistant teachers whatever they are don’t even know how to talk.

B. Job placement rate. Now lets talk some sense, most of the people in India are studying for getting jobs and AB college doesn’t have a good Job placement rate, I think they doesn’t even researched over it whether graduated students are getting jobs quickly or not. I don’t know exactly whether any reputed company comes to hire employ in college campus or not.

Best thing:

#1. In life a person’s happiness mostly depend on others, we wear cool dresses, care for our looks and so on just for others, for example if we go in a party wearing a bad dress we can’t really enjoy that party because most of the time we try to hide our self. what they will say, they think, No matter how good we are but at some point we know that thinking of others, their view that they have regarding us effect our daily life, other wise life would be so simply and here the reality hit, we people don’t like simple things, we prefer complex things and this explain us why we young people like Rap songs because they are not simple. Just like that in college our happiness depends on others which mostly are our friends. The time we spend with our best-est buddies is the time we enjoy the most and because of college we meet them.

No matters how big or important issues we have with our college, this one good thing cover them all.

#2. The second best thing is the attendance which they don’t take properly and that’s the big reason behind 2900+ admissions every year. They only charge 200 or near about that which is almost like buying a movie ticket with food combo, surely the feeling of both is same.
