RESERVATION POLICY: CHANGES REQUIRED !

What is it?

Indian Reservation policy is a form of affirmative action by which a percentage of seats are reserved in the public sector units, union and state civil services, union, and state government departments and in all public and private educational institutions, except in the religious/ linguistic minority educational institutions, for the socially and educationally backward communities and the Scheduled Castes and Tribes who are inadequately represented in these services and institutions. The reservation policy is also extended for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes for representation in the Parliament of India.

Cons:

In India, a person born in a poor family of General category (which doesn’t come under reservation) doesn’t get any support from the government, whereas a person born in a rich family of Scheduled Caste (which comes under reservation) get’s what he deserve less than general category guy. There’s only 0.7% reservation based on merit, where as near about 49.5% reservation based on caste and tribe. I have no problem giving reservation to SC or whatever Caste but at least check does they really deserve it or not.

Reservation should be given to all the deserving persons, no matter of what area, caste, tribe, Religion they belong to.

Changes required:

  1. The Government should work on making income certificates more authentic or trust worthy. These Certificates are used to decide if candidate deserves the help, In India, you can easily get a low-income certificate even if you have a high income, there no checking process, Government should introduce some checking process. Reservation should only be given to poor.

  1. Reservation in educational institutes should be more merit oriented, If a Student is good in studies he or she should definitely get support.

  1. There should be an expiry date of reservation policy so that the fundamental right of equality become reality and if it’s not ended soon then various other Castes start demanding reservation like Jatts in Haryana.

  1. I accept this that due to the Caste System SCs and the STs were historically oppressed and denied respect and equal opportunity in Indian society and were thus under-represented but now after so many years of reservation system they had got enough opportunity to grow, now it’s the turn of those who really need help. The Government should give benefits to only one generation of these backward castes.

  1. More Reservation should be provided to physically disabled and people belonging to third sex category. The Government must provide reservation to those people who comes from completely illiterate families.

At last, everyone wants equal opportunity, If someone is financially weak then Government should help no matter which Caste he or She belongs to.
